About this course
This course provides hands-on experience using N8N's no-code platform to build, manage, and deploy AI agents. The curriculum is centered on building a voice/command-driven inventory management system, preparing students to create functional AI workflows and work effectively with clients.
Course Outline
Class 1: N8N Core & First AI Agent
Topic 1: N8N Core & Setup
N8N's 5 core components: Nodes, Workflows, Triggers, Credentials, and Executions. Hands-on Setup: Guide to local/cloud installation of N8N, and setting up free LLM access with Gemini & OpenAI.
Topic 2: Building a Command-Driven Inventory Record
Hands-on Lab: A workflow that can create, read, update, and delete a new inventory record based on simple commands. Data will be stored in a Google Sheet or database.
Topic 3: Data Handling & Manipulation
Understanding JSON data structures. Using the Set node for data transformation. Hands-on Lab: Build on the inventory project by adding logic to read and display specific inventory items based on a user query.
Topic 4: Automating Inventory Updates
Hands-on Lab: Create an automation workflow that can update inventory records based on new input (e.g., a new order, a delivery).
Topic 5: Introducing Intelligence to Inventory
Hands-on Lab: Integrate an LLM node to analyze product descriptions, classify product categories, or write a compelling description automatically.
Class 2: Intermediate Workflows & Multi-Agent Concepts
Topic 1: Automation & AI Agent Workflows
Differentiating between a simple automation and an intelligent AI agent workflow. Structuring agentic workflows with decision-making logic using no-code nodes like IF and Switch.
Topic 2: Real-time AI Agent with Google Ecosystem
Integrating N8N with Google's free resources (e.g., Google Sheets, Gmail). Using Google Sheets as a database for your AI agent. Hands-on Lab: Create an AI Agent that triggers on a new row in a Google Sheet, processes the data with an LLM, and sends a notification via email.
Topic 3: The "Calling Agent" Concept in Practice
Understanding how different workflows can be linked together using a Webhook or other no-code triggers. Overview of multi-agent systems and how they can be used to solve more complex problems.
Class 3: Advanced Agent Capabilities & Design
Topic 1: Enhancing the Agent with Tools
What are tools and why are they important for agents? Integrating external services as tools using N8N's vast library of integrations. Hands-on Lab: Enhance a previous agent to use a tool like a Web Search API to make decisions based on real-time information.
Topic 2: Multi-Agent Systems in Practice
Introduction to the concept of multi-agent systems. Building a multi-agent system where one workflow (agent) triggers another to complete a task.
Topic 3: Robust Workflow Design
Implementing error handling nodes to manage unexpected issues. Using the Wait node for rate-limiting and flow control.
Class 4: Client-Facing & Business Skills
Topic 1: Getting Clients with the "Secrets with AI" Method
How to approach clients and get projects even without prior experience. The secret: Building a solution for a client's problem before they ask.
Topic 2: Leveraging AI to Build Your Portfolio
How to use the inventory project and other small automations you've built as a powerful portfolio. Using AI to help you create compelling project descriptions, case studies, and proposals.
